Carbon dioxide, and other greenhouse gases are released by the burning of fossil fuels. These gases cannot all be absorbed by the environment, and the excess gases trap heat in the atmosphere leading to rises in global temperature.
We need to produce no more CO2 emissions than the environment can process naturally – this is what Net Zero emissions means.
The UK Government has committed to reduce emissions to 78% of the 1990 levels by the year 2035, in line with the 6th Carbon Budget. The Government is already working to reduce to 68% by 2030 on the same basis.
The UK carbon emissions target level is to be 100% below 1990 levels by 2050.
Reducing carbon emissions in your business is a critical part of this overall process.
